For a primer on the Omer see “Week One: Chesed.” For the schedule of the Omer, see Chabad’s Omer Calendar.
The second week of the Omer focuses on Gevurah. There are so many ways people interpret this sephira. You see it described as severity, strength, judgement, discipline & measure, might, courage, and power — just to name a few. For me, my mind leaps directly to the Gevirah Netivah of Shekhinah — the Matriarch.
Once again we look at each of the other seven “lower” sephirot through the lense of this sephira. We begin like every week, with Chesed (loving kindness). What does Loving Kindness within Strength mean in our lives and the world?
The second, which explores Gevurah (strength), looks like this:
- Loving-kindness within Strength
- Strength within Strength
- Compassion (Beauty) within Strength
- Endurance within Strength
- Glory within Strength
- Connection within Strength
- Majesty within Strength
Exploring Gevurah:
- Chabad: Week 2, Gevurah
- Velveteen Rabbi: Day 9, Gevurah
- Telshemesh: Omer Calendar of Biblical Women
- Jewish Mosaic: Counting the Omer
- Inner: Gevurah
- Aish: Gevurah

I envision Gevurah as the power and strength to set necessary boundaries and to cut unnecessary boundaries away — much like the Matriarch.
I really love this practice of seeing the sephira inside the sephira each week, by the way!
