Peeling a Pomegranate — The Newsletter!
Today was the launch of the new Peeling a Pomegranate newsletter. It’s an evolution of the Rosh Chodesh guides that I published for several years, but now the focus is more clearly on helping people (you!) live a life that is more connected to Judaism and Jewish practice.
The Peeling a Pomegranate Newsletter will be published each month about 10 days before the start of each Jewish month. The newsletter will include practices and ideas from the month that we’re exiting, and a focus for the month we’re entering. In particular, I’m focusing on the physical objects that seem to define each month. So even if you don’t feel like Judaism is a part of your every day life, I hope you’ll find the newsletter relevant.
Tishrei, is the head of the Jewish spiritual year and the object we’re exploring this month is the Shofar! There’s actually a lot of objects that seem to define Tishrei (shofars, sukkahs, lulavs, etrogrim, ushpizin flags, food — or the lack of it), but the Shofar is also a totemic item for Jews, so we’re focusing on that in the newsletter.
The newsletter also contains dates for upcoming public events and other goodies. You can check out the Tishrei newsletter in you case you missed and subscribe, it’s free! I hope you’ll subscribe and tell me what you think!
What physical objects do you associate with Tishrei?
